I am the type person who needs everything put away before I can fully relax each night and to have company over can put me into a full blown tizzy. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE having company and entertaining…but I get totally worked up over the preparations to make sure they have a nice time (anyone else?). My entire family does it, it’s in our DNA. We laugh when we go to each others houses because we know what the last 24 hours probably looked like. To me, there is nothing better than putting my feet up after everything is put away, the laundry is done, a candle is lit and the house smells like lemon Pledge (the women in my family are smiling at this and the men are rolling their eyes). I am determined to relax on all of this silliness in general and start right now at the start of the holidays. I fully acknowledge that I will blink and Ford wont be toddling around in his PJ’s saying “up” to me and that the dishes can wait. I am going to try and be more present and be thankful for the little things. It’s a work in progress but I will try…at least until I can teach Ford how to dust (kidding!).
I hope you all have a fabulous week and a very happy THANKSGIVING!
